Passagemaker – UV Covers

UV Leech and Foot Covers

The sun’s powerful ultra violet (UV) rays are destructive to sails. Therefore, sailors need to keep their sails protected from the sun when not in use.  Roller furling jibs can come with built-in UV covers on the leech and foot to protect those edges once the sail is rolled up at the end of the day. The most common UV covers are made from woven acrylic Sunbrella or WeatherMax. Both come in a range of colors that match the rest of the boat’s protective canvas covers.
