Cruising Gennaker: Simplicity and Speed

UK Sailmakers’ Cruising Gennaker makes downwind sailing fast and fun. It gives nearly the pulling power of a spinnaker with nearly the same ease as trimming a genoa. The asymmetrical shape where the luff is longer than the leech creates a stable sail that is easy to trim and prevents it from becoming as ill-mannered as traditional spinnakers. The sail is so stable that you can use it with your autopilot. Not needing a spinnaker pole, the Cruising Gennaker is the perfect sail for cruising couples.

The Cruising Gennaker is Versatile

Cruising Gennakers are designed with an all-purpose shape so they can be carried from beam reaching in light winds to broad-reaching in a stiff 20-knot blow. These sails add more fun to daysails and help chew up the miles when cruising to faraway harbors. You’ll enjoy it so much that you’ll pick a course that allows you to set your cruising gennaker.

And since the sails are made out of nylon that comes in all the colors of the rainbow, the multitude of panels allows creativity in designing a personal color scheme. Use UK Sailmakers’ online painting tool to try out different designs.
