The 2025 L30 European Championship was staged during the 144th Kieler Woche (Kiel Week), one of the world’s largest and most storied sailing festivals, running from June 21–29, 2025. The regatta brought together top L30 sailors for four days of competitive racing from June 21–24, organized by the L30 Class Association in partnership with Kieler Woche.
Racing Format & Conditions
The championship opened with the AALREGATTA—a coastal race from Kiel to Eckernförde on Saturday, June 21—followed by up to nine windward/leeward races in the Kiel Cup from Sunday to Tuesday on Eckernförde Bay and Stollergrund.
This year’s Baltic conditions were anything but tame. Winds topped 40 knots, creating high-energy racing and tactical challenges throughout the fleet. The heavy weather even led to the dismasting of one L30, underscoring the demanding nature of the event

Oleksandr Mukhin on the Podium
Representing UK Sailmakers Ukraine, Oleksandr Mukhin sailed to a strong second-place overall finish, continuing the loft’s reputation as the top L30 one-design specialists in the world. Racing with X-Drive one-design sails and Matrix spinnakers, Mukhin’s consistent performance in varied and at times extreme conditions highlighted both his skill and the competitive edge of the UK Sailmakers’ inventory.
“Kieler Woche left a great impression — it was especially nice to see the L30 class become part of such a major sailing event. The regatta brought a wide range of conditions … The atmosphere was incredible … a true sailing celebration that we were proud to be part of.” — Oleksandr Mukhin

Continued Success at the Double Rundt
Mukhin’s strong season didn’t end in Kiel. In early July, he partnered with Boris Shvets to win the 2025 Double Rundt in Yardstick Division 1. Hosted by Langballigau Yacht Club in Langballig, Germany, the race took competitors across the Baltic Sea between Germany and Denmark, finishing in Søby. This victory further cemented Mukhin’s standing in the region’s competitive sailing scene.
