The 636-mile biennial Newport Bermuda Race starts today, June 19, at 1300 ET. 150 boats will be taking off from Newport, RI, with their next stop Bermuda. Established in 1906, this is the oldest regularly scheduled ocean race and one of the few international distance races held almost entirely out of sight of land, alongside the Transpac Race. The Newport Bermuda Race is co-sponsored by the Cruising Club of America and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.
Even if you’re not sailing to Bermuda this year, that doesn’t mean you can’t be part of the Newport Bermuda Race experience and excitement. The organizers have put together the following list of eight ways to follow the race.
